The mental health center of the Mar Menor, located in an independent building within the campus of the Los Arcos del Mar Menor University Hospital, will begin operations on Wednesday, May 23, when the first consultations with patients in the San Javier area will be held. The new mental health service, which will start with 12,000 files of people from the four municipalities that have been served so far in the mental health center of Cartagena, has involved the incorporation of eight new professionals to a staff that will have a total of 18, composed of seven psychiatrists, four clinical psychologists, three mental health nurses, a social worker and three administrative assistants.
The Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas said that with the opening of the mental health center of the Mar Menor "the aspirations of the population of the Mar Menor are fulfilled with facilities that improve both accessibility and quality of service."
