San Javier is devoted to folklore this weekend at the XXX International Festival with groups from Murcia, Galicia and Serbia (21/06/2018)

The inauguration of the huertano enclosure installed in the square of Spain of San Javier by the Federation of Peñas Huertanas opens tomorrow Friday at 9pm the XXX International Folklore Festival of San Javier that is celebrated throughout the weekend with the participation of groups of the Region of Murcia, Galicia and Serbia, as guest country.

The first gala of the Festival will begin at 9:30 p.m. in the Plaza de España dedicated to regional folklore with the participation of the folk group "Villa de Alhama", of Alhama de Murcia, the "El Ciazo" peña, of Torreagüera and the group of "Mar Menor Choirs and Dances" of San Javier, host of the Festival organized by the Department of Culture of the City of San Javier.

On Saturday 23 at 9:30 p.m., the second gala of the Festival will begin with the participation of the group "Rosalía de Castro", from A Coruña, dedicated to the recovery and maintenance of Galician folklore and a group from Serbia that will show the richness of the folklore of the Balkan republic so imbricated in the social life of its inhabitants.

The end of the Gala will coincide with the welcome to the night of San Juan that will be celebrated with a pyro-musical show to the sound of "La Parranda".

The Festival will travel to the beach on Sunday, June 24, with an exhibition of the Serbian group and the local group "Coros y Danzas Mar Menor", from San Javier, which will take place at 12 noon on the Barnuevo esplanade in Santiago de la Ribera.

During all the days of the Festival you can visit in the Plaza de España the huertano ethnic area in which the typical way of life is reproduced in the garden of Murcia until the beginning of the last century.

The 30 years of the Festival coincide in this edition with the 50th Anniversary of the group of Mar Menor Choirs and Dances of San Javier, created in 1967 by the parish priest of that time, Antonio López, a native of Patiño.

The training has been kept active with special attention to the nursery schools to ensure its continuity over time.

This afternoon you will receive a tribute on the occasion of its 50th anniversary with the discovery of a commemorative sculpture on the Neptune avenue of San Javier.
