Mi Mar Menor de Salazón will be held from June 30 to July 1 in the Plaza de España in San Javier (27/06/2018)

Recovering the flavor and tradition of the Mar Menor canoes is the objective of "Mi Mar Menor de Salazón", a gastronomic and informative event that will be held from June 30 to July 1 in the Plaza de España in San Javier "in the one that will speak of the salting and also of the culture of the encañizadas ", according to explained today the mayor of San Javier, Jose Miguel Luengo that presented the event next to the adviser of Tourism and Culture, Miriam Guardiola, in the Center of Tourist Qualification of the Region of Murcia.

The culinary event that is expected to spend about 12,000 people throughout the weekend will house more than one thousand square meters of gastronomic activities with tastings and some of the best chefs in the Region of Murcia who will make their preparations face to the public in six Show Cooking with salting as the protagonist.

The same space will host 10 exhibition spaces where tasting and buying products, as well as hosting a display of tuna cutting, and the presentation of the book edited by the City of San Javier "Las encañizadas de San Javier and the fruits of the Mar Menor" in the that the history of the encañizadas is gathered with testimonies of several generations of fishermen.

"Mi Mar Menor de Salazón" will start on Friday June 29 at 6pm with the opening of the exhibitors and the first gastronomic demonstration by Tomás Écija, at 7:30 p.m.

During the official opening at 8:30 p.m., the title "La más salá" will be presented to the director of the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, Virginia Martínez.

Starting at 9:00 p.m., catonal salad and salted meat will be served with a wine tasting Bodegas San Dionisio.

At 2pm there will be a tasting of Bodegas Madrid Romero, a large sardine moraga and cauldron of the Mar Menor.

At 4pm, Spain's match against Russia in the World Cup will be screened.

The chef Alberto del Cerro will be the last one to cook surrounded by the public before the game of 8pm and the morga de sardinas with which the end of the intense weekend will end.

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo thanked the sponsors of the event as well as the Autonomous Community of Murcia for their collaboration, and encouraged the public to attend throughout the weekend and enjoy an extensive and varied program of activities and tastings.

The Minister of Tourism and Culture, Miriam Guardiola reiterated the Regional Government's commitment to gastronomic tourism and praised salting as a typical product of the Mar Menor and the Region as well as the participation of some of the best chefs in the Region.
