The "Don Juan Tenorio, Dream and reality in San Javier cemetery" has been selected among the five best open-door activities in the National Contest Cemeteries 2018 (05/07/2018)

The cemetery of San Javier has been selected as a finalist along with four other Spanish cemeteries for the 2018 Cemeteries Contest organized by the veteran magazine "Adiós Cultural" in the category of "Best open door activity" for the performance of "Don Juan Tenorio. Dream and reality in the cemetery of San Javier ", which for four years organizes the Department of Culture of the City of San Javier in the cemetery of the town.

The contest, which consists of five categories: Best cemetery, Best monument, Best open door activity, Best documented history and Best documentary initiative, is convened by the magazine "Adiós Cultural", published for 22 years by Funespaña, with the aim of recognize the historical, social, environmental, artistic and patrimonial interest of Spanish cemeteries.

The prizes, which will be granted by popular vote, also seek to reclaim the cemeteries as places full of life as a part of the city that must be conserved and promote its potential as a tourist resource.

The Councilor for Culture, David Martinez highlighted the recognition that is for the "Don Juan Tenorio" of San Javier to be finalist of these awards "since it is a unique initiative in Spain that in its four years of existence has managed to become one of the most important cultural events of autumn not only in the municipality but throughout the Region of Murcia ".

To this fifth edition of the Awards, 46 candidatures from 12 autonomous communities have been presented.

Voting can be done from Friday, July 13 until September 30, through www.revistaadios.es in which you can check the literary and graphic documentation that each candidate.

To vote just enter an email, which will be verified, with which you can vote only once.

The results of the votes can be seen in real time on the page itself.

San Javier will compete with the Santander cemetery of Ciriego and Castro Urdiales (Cantabria);

that of Alcoy (Alicante) for its varied offer, and that of Monturque (Córdoba) for the Roman days of Mundamortis.

The candidatures presented will be incorporated into the "Cemeteries Route of Spain", published by the magazine and available at www.revistaadios.es
