The Plaza de España will host the central track of the World Padel Tour tournament to be held from October 1st to 7th in San Javier (20/09/2018)

The Plaza de España in San Javier will house the central track of the Challenger Villa in San Javier, one of the World Padel Tour tournaments, the world-renowned professional paddle circuit, which will be held in San Javier from October 1 to 7.

The Tournament of San Javier was described this morning as "historic" by the representatives of the organization Juan Méndez and Luis Torres "since it is the first time in history that the central court is located in an urban plaza", during the presentation of the event with the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo and the general director of Sports, Alonso Gómez.

Juan Méndez, representative of the organization, said that "San Javier enters the big door on the World Paddle Tour with a different tournament than the rest" as from Thursday, October 4, the Plaza de España will be the stage of the final phase of the Tournament from the eighth finals.

The preliminary phase will begin on October 1 in two scenarios: the tracks of the municipal sports center and the Villaescusa Club facilities.

The semifinals and finals will be broadcast by streaming from the Plaza de San Javier for all fans worldwide, said Juan Méndez who also highlighted the tourist return of the event that according to statistics attracts up to 30 percent of foreign public.

The head of the World Padel Tour in Spain, Luis Torres highlighted the "great hobby" that exists in the area towards "the second most practiced sport in Spain with 5 million players of which 1.7 million practice weekly" he said, citing figures of the Superior Council of Sports.

The general director of Sports, Alonso Gómez said that the Murcia Padel Federation is one of the most has increased its number of entries and encouraged fans in the region to visit San Javier from October 1 to 7 to see the best players.
