The painter Saura Mira donates a canvas from his collection "Reflejos", on the Mar Menor, to the City Hall of San Javier (26/09/2018)

The Murcian painter Fulgencio Saura Mira and the mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo today signed the donation to the City of San Javier of the canvas "Reflections in the port", a work of great dimensions that has presided over the exhibition dedicated to the Mar Menor of Saura Mira which closes next Friday, after three months open to the public, at the Museum of San Javier.

The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo thanked the donation of the painting of Saura Mira "that enlarges the pictorial heritage of the City of San Javier."

Luengo highlighted the affection with which the Murcian painter has looked at the Mar Menor, source of inspiration for the "Reflejos" collection that more than 5000 people have visited since last July.

The painting, valued at 8000 euros, shows some boats on "the soft waves of the Mar Menor" with an impressionistic style with which the painter said he felt "pleasantly identified".

"In it I pick up the movement, the Levantine light, the rhythm of the warm tones, the gravity of the atmosphere and that fading of the brushstroke that unravels and initiates other strokes at the same time" explained the painter.

"There is no more or less in the painting than he has felt", says Saura Mira in relation to the canvas in which he has wanted to capture the moment through color.

"I wanted to sink, drown in that reflection, conjunction of water and life" explains the painter who claims the way of looking at nature, of the nineteenth-century impressionists and what lies beyond reality "capable of being recreated in each look".

The exhibition "Reflejos", which opened on July 6, has shown 40 watercolors and oils dedicated to the Mar Menor along with 40 other small-format paintings with landscapes, customs and architecture of San Javier and the Mar Menor.

The exhibition has led to the discovery of a new way of painting by the Murcian master who uses the Impressionist trace, with winks even to the abstraction, to reflect the lights, transparencies, colors and sensations that the Mar Menor produces at this time of his life , on whose shore he sat to paint it white and blue.
