Citizens will promote a plan to safeguard the traditional trade and the businesses of the self-employed (30/10/2018)

"In Ciudadanos we continue to fight for our self-employed and our traditional businesses," says local spokesman Antonio Murcia

Ciudadanos wants the traditional businesses run by the self-employed not to be extinguished when the feared generational relay takes place.

For that, it wants to promote a Plan of Succession of Companies and Generational Relay of the Autonomous Worker that among its measures includes a regional registry of these businesses in risk of extinction, so that in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the town halls and the own Regional Development Institute can order this generational change and prevent its closure.

"These traditional shops and proximity are what make up the essence of our neighborhoods," said the orange spokesman in San Javier, who has seen his proposal approved in plenary despite the abstention of the PP that supports the government team.

"We talk about small shops of all the life: haberdasheries, supermarkets, bakeries, fishmongers, drugstores or groceries that have been and are the sustenance of many of our neighbors.

And often, these nearby establishments are the only ones accessible for people with little mobility or who do not have a vehicle to travel, so it is key to guarantee their maintenance, in addition to fixing the population and creating jobs and wealth, "said Murcia.

The agreement, which Ciudadanos wants to discuss also in the rest of the municipalities in which it has institutional representation, contemplates that the Local Development Agencies, the business organizations and the professional associations are involved in the objective of facilitating this transition and continuity of the business and shops.

It also asks the regional executive to prepare a Business Succession Plan and Generational Relay of the Autonomous Worker, so that those who are close to retirement can give the witness to new entrepreneurs.

Finally, Ciudadanos wants this plan to include measures to alleviate bureaucratic obstacles and tax burdens in the transmission of business.

"In Citizens we are very clear about our commitment to the self-employed and traditional commerce, and we will continue to fight so that they do not have to permanently reduce the blinds and continue contributing to our neighborhoods and districts", concluded Murcia.
