Theater of the Slaughterhouse, of Murcia and Ofecum Teatro, of Granada close the phase to contest of the III Amateur Theater Competition "Francisco Rubio" (16/05/2019)

The 3rd Amateur Theater Competition "Francisco Rubio" resumes its programming starting tomorrow, Friday, May 17 at 9:00 pm at the theater of the "Prince of Asturias" center, in Santiago de la Ribera, with Teatro del Matadero, Murcia on stage the play "El landa de seis caballos", by Víctor Ruiz Iriarte.

The work, directed by Manolo Ortín, recreates the own world created by a group of extemporaneous elders with the counterpoint of a series of visitors that arrive at the farm where the protagonists live.

The contest phase will be closed on Saturday May 18 by the theater group Ofecum Teatro, of Granada, with the performance at 8pm of the play "Olivia y Ana", an adaptation of the play "Olivia y Eugenio", by Herbert Morote.

The play, directed by Antonio Morell and starring Mila Estepa and Elena Parras, addresses the moving relationship between a mother and her daughter with Down syndrome, which will be her main support.

On Sunday, May 19 at 7:00 pm, the awards ceremony will be held for the best work, best director, and best actor and actress, star and cast among the four works selected in the contest phase.

At the end of the ceremony, "BEATG: A different beat" will be performed, with direction and dramaturgy by Mario Hernández and design and scenic space for the Ribeiro based in Madrid, Isis de Coura.

The assembly, co-produced by the company Irregulares y Naves del Matadero, where it premiered successfully at the end of last year, pays homage to the forgotten women of the so-called Beat Generation.

Set in a New York Village gambling den in the early 1960s, the play, which features live music, portrays two women, Joyce Johnson and Elise Cowen, who with two very different personalities will give voice to the silenced woman of the time that were the seed of the feminist movement of the 70s.

The access will be by free invitation that can be collected in the Department of Culture, in the City of San Javier.

For the guest work "BEATG.Un different beat" invitations are no longer available, although 50 more seats will be enabled whose invitations will be exclusively delivered at the box office before the beginning of the performance.
