The young national and international jazz star, Andrea Motis and the admired Zenet star in one of the most anticipated nights at Jazz San Javier (04/07/2019)

The trumpeter, saxophonist, Catalan singer and composer, Andrea Motis, a worldwide jazz phenomenon at age 24, visits for the first time Jazz San Javier accompanied by her trusted musicians among which is the brilliant pianist Ignasi Terraza and the double bassist and saxophonist Joan Chamorro, his mentor since he discovered her at 12 years old and with whom he recorded his first six albums.

With only 20 years the prestigious label Impulse!

Records, for which they recorded John Coltrane and Charles Mingus, among others, hires her to publish her first solo album "Emotional dance" that she recorded in New York with producers such as Brian Bacchus, producer of Norah Jones, to whom he has been compared as a vocalist, and the Grammy winner for the best album, Jay Newland.

Andrea Motis debuted as a composer including three songs of her own along with versions of classic jazz songs, on her first solo album and seventh of her discography, which has just been enlarged with her latest album "Do Outro Lado do Azul" published this year with the legendary Verve label, in which he immersed himself in Brazilian music performing songs such as "Antonico", by Ismael Silva, who sang Gal Costa, or Dança de Solidao, by Paulinho da Viola, among others.

In her second album as a soloist she deepens in her facet of composer with three songs of her own, and surprises with a version of the "Mediterranean" by Joan Manuel Serrat.

Eight albums, two of them as soloists, the documentary "Andrea Motis, the silent trumpet", by Ramón Tort, international tours and a broad consensus of critics and audiences at only 24 years old, promise a musical career without limits for this young star, He started his musical training as a trumpeter at the age of 7 and at 12 he played in the Sant Andreu Jazz Band.

Still a teenager, Andrea Motis was invited by Quincy Jones to join her group "Quincy Jones & The Global Gumbo All Stars" at the Perelada Festival.

Confessed admirer of Israeli trumpeter Avishai Cohen, Andrea Motis has played live with names such as trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, saxophonist Jesse Davis, and others.

In Jazz San Javier he will do it with Joan Chamorro on double bass and tenor sax, Ignasi Terraza on piano, Josep Traver on guitar and Esteve Pi on drums.

The second concert of the night will star the multifaceted artist from Malaga Zenet, who returns three years after falling in love with the public of the Jazz Festival of San Javier in the 19th edition.

Zenet returns to Jazz San Javier with his latest album "La Guapería" (2019), recorded by El Volcán de la Música, like his previous work, "Si sucede convenien", with which he won the Best Jazz Album Award of the Independent Music Awards.

On this occasion, Zenet dives in the old Cuban boleros, which take on new life in his voice and which were immortalized by Olga Guillot, Bola de Nieve, Marta Valdés or the Trío Matamoros, among many other great artists.

Zenet has coined the term "archeosophy" to define the way in which he has resorted to the past with the utmost respect and care to address "sacred pieces", as he defines the songbook of the Caribbean island from which he extracted an exquisite selection of boleros among those who are "You're wrong", "Montuno Too much", "It's so difficult" or "Do not get involved anymore", among others.

Zenet, who began his artistic career as an actor before breaking into music in 2008 with his famous album "Los Mares de China", will once again demonstrate his charisma on stage accompanied by a top-notch band with Manuel Machado on trumpet and Öve Larsson on trombone, Pepe Rivero on piano, Raúl Márquez on violin, José Taboada on guitar, Antonio Miguel on contrabass and Moisés Porro on drums and percussion.
