The Municipal Emergency Service presents its central base of more than 5000 meters in San Javier (13/12/2019)

The new San Javier Municipal Emergency Service, which has been operating since last June, today presented the new facilities of its base with more than 5000 square meters, located on Isla del Hierro Street, 1 in San Javier.

The emergency operations center in the municipality, which has two other support bases in La Manga del Mar Menor, welcomes more than one hundred people in high season as well as the technical and material resources available to them as a fleet of 20 vehicles such as polysocor units, heavy bombs “that were decisive in the rescue of people during the DANASâ€, bilges, rapid intervention vehicles, sanitary, amphibious and fire fighting, explained María Jesús Zamora, Head of Base and Operations of the service that manages the company Offshore Special Services, OSS.

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, led the guest entourage today who attended the official presentation of the "pioneer service throughout Spain today because it concentrates three previously dispersed contracts into a single comprehensive and versatile one."

José Miguel Luengo stressed that it is a municipal commitment to safety and recalled the efficiency that the SEM has already shown in emergencies such as DANAS or its important collaboration in the tragic air accidents with its own means and personnel, among many other actions.

The SEM, which has been equipped with high technology with which they manage to optimize the response to any emergency, is characterized by its versatile nature that also applies to its professionally trained personnel to act with different material means and in any type of emergency explained the Head of Base, María Jesús Zamora.

The Service has permanent guards 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with a checkpoint prepared to double troops in case of emergency.

Among the infrastructure at its disposal, it has means to combat accidental maritime pollution, and diving means that were used to refloat the injured plane in the Mar Menor last September.

Manuel Durán, OSS Development Manager highlighted the uniqueness of the media and the high preparation of the staff that is part of the company as well as the success of the new formula that San Javier opens.

“It has been passed from a system that added individualized resources to another integral response system with its own means to any type of emergency that may occur,†he explained.

The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo pointed out the municipal effort in the field of security with the award of a total service “which represents an expense of about 1.2 million euros but it is worth it for the residents of San Javier to feel protected, that they know that there are mechanical and human means that provide that security and certainty that we all want to feel in difficult times. â€

The Municipal Emergency Service will move next Sunday, December 15, to the Barnuevo esplanade in Santiago de la Ribera, from 10am to 2pm, on a day of exhibition and approach to citizens who will be able to learn about both the material means of the Service and to your staff and work methods.
