The Civil Guard detains a dozen people in San Javier related to vehicle thefts (03/02/2020)

The alleged authorship of the crimes of robbery with force and theft is attributed to them

So far a score of criminal acts has been clarified

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the 'Rontor' operation, has broken up several criminal groups based in San Javier and dedicated to the commission of robberies with force and theft inside vehicles.

After the operation, the members of the Prevention of Citizen Security of the Benemérita have clarified about twenty criminal acts committed against vehicles parked in the urban area of ​​San Javier.

The operation opened last year to investigate a series of very specific crimes against heritage: theft and robbery committed against vehicles, facts that had caused social alarm in the population.

During the first phase of the operation, the civil guards seized a detained frequency inhibitor, which was used to open the vehicles without causing any damage, leaving a record of the use, by some criminals, of more technical means and Advanced electronic systems to achieve your illicit objectives.

Because facts of this criminal typology were still committed, the civil guards continued with the second phase of the operation.

The follow-up of the crimes and the indications obtained initially oriented the investigators towards other groups of people who also had several ramifications, all of them located both in San Javier and in neighboring towns.

As the operation developed, the civil guards detected that although the objective was always the same: subtraction of value effects from the interior of vehicles parked in San Javier, the modus operandi was diversifying.

Some materialized the facts in a more direct way, using stones or some blunt object to break the glass of the vehicles, and others fractured the lock in a more subtle way, but both always with the intention of accessing the interior of the vehicle.

Its objective was mainly the subtraction of valuables from inside, such as electronic devices, mobile phones and laptops, as well as clothing.

Before committing the robbery they carried out a thorough study of the situation of the vehicles, their accesses and possible escape routes, always acting at night, all this to avoid being identified.

In one of the robberies, committed at dawn, the authors were surprised by witnesses from nearby homes.

On some occasion, in addition, they were detected trying to open the locks of all vehicles parked on the same street, to check if any were open or had damaged locks.

The investigations carried out allowed the researchers to delimit the area of ​​action of this type of urban crime, in the case of streets with little traffic, isolated and with little security measures.

The indications obtained in the technical-ocular inspections carried out on the affected vehicles, as well as other procedures, allowed the identification of a large number of people who, presumably, were after the authorship of the crimes investigated.

The search device established by the Civil Guard on the suspects has culminated in the last days with the location and detention of twelve people, as alleged authors of the crimes of robbery with force and theft.

The analysis of the information obtained during the investigation has made it possible to clarify so far about twenty criminal acts of robberies with force inside vehicles and theft committed against vehicles parked in the urban area of ​​San Javier.

The detainees of Spanish, Moroccan and Colombian nationality, between 18 and 52 years of age, residing in San Javier and some of them with a history of similar crimes and the proceedings conducted have been made available to the Court of Instruction of San Javier ( Murcia).
