Six teams with 12 operators will fumigate the areas near open establishments throughout the municipality of San Javier starting tomorrow (17/03/2020)

The San Javier City Council has begun to fumigate the public highway, in the most central areas and close to opening establishments allowed in the alarm decree as a complementary measure in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

The fumigation that has been successfully tested today with municipal means is normalized from tomorrow with six simultaneous teams to which the concessionaire of the street cleaning service is added, following the same operation deployed by the UME in other areas of Spain.

The teams will be made up of two people, protected by regulation, who will complement the disinfection action, one of them taking care of the general fumigation while the other will review elements of urban furniture such as railings, with a solution of sodium hypochlorite in water.

The operation will continue for the next few days, with no end date, and will be carried out at least once a day.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, there will be six teams in different parts of the municipality.

In Santiago de la Ribera it will start in the Puertas del Mar area towards Sandoval avenue and the old town until AGA.

Another team will start in the Cuatro Picos area, towards the Local Police roundabout and the nearby shopping and pharmacy area.

A third team will start in the El Molino shopping center area towards San Javier on the San Pedro highway, while a fourth team will cover the central area of San Javier.

The other two teams will be operational all day in La Manga del Mar Menor, mainly on Gran Vía, El Mirador and Pozo Aledo.

The main action criteria will be to cover areas near open establishments, as they are the ones that register a certain transfer of people these days.

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo pointed out that this action is in tune with those carried out in different areas of Spain, following the recommendations of the health authorities and recalls that it is a complementary measure to the rest of the measures imposed by the alarm decree that we must comply individually and collectively.

The mayor thanked the offer of different companies that in the last few hours have carried out disinfection tasks that for the moment are assumed by the City Council with its own means and together with the road cleaning concessionary company, following the guidelines of the competent health authorities.
