"Alexander the Great" backroom discover the fascinating myth

Luis Luque director delves into the man behind the hero who gives life Felix Gomez in an assembly that keeps the spectacular staging with which premiered at the Roman theater in Mérida

Alexander warrior, strategist, the conqueror and also the man devoured by doubts, the man who holds an almost constant dichotomy, arrives tonight at Festival of San Javier that offers the only chance to see this show as presented at the Festival of Classical Theatre last July.

Luis Luque, director of the assembly, and Eduardo Galán has made a free version of the text of Jean Racine, it imagining how was the man behind the myth, which arrives intact to our days 25 centuries later, and have addressed "from what he did because we have no trace of his character and personality, "said Luque.

"Write great stories about my battles, but know really who was Alexander? The actor Felix Gomez who plays the king of Macedonia, who at his death 33 years had conquered all the then known kingdoms question. The cast is completed by popular faces like actors Aitor Luna, Unax Ugalde, Diana Palazón, Marina San José, Armando del Rio and Amparo Pamplona.

The work focuses on the last battle fought Alexander, of Hydaspes in India, with a spectacular scenery of the Italian Monica Boromello where will this water, fire, air and earth, with a sunset stage loaded with symbolism, and percussive sound.

The designer Paco Delgado, nominated twice for an Oscar for the film "The Danish Girl" (2016) and "Les Miserables" (2013), designed the costumes that contributes to the exquisite setting of Mount coproduced by Pentación Shows and Festival Merida.

The Alexander featuring Luis Luque in this assembly, which has worked with a team of about 150 people, aims to get men more than the fascinating hero, he explained the director Luis Luque in relation to the assembly highlighting the work actors develop over the hour and forty minutes of representation.

His bisexuality, that died young as contemporary myths, respect for the autonomy of the conquered peoples, and their preference for justice versus revenge, make Alexander the Great, a modern character to Luis Luque leading to this simple and king, sanguinary and poet at the same time, to wonder, as anyone could do it, how far we can go to get what we want man.
