San Javier exposed part of his collection Pictorial Municipal coinciding with the 180th Anniversary of the City (16/09/2016)

Twenty selected works from the collection Pictorial City of San Javier overlook these days the lobby of the consistorial building where it is exhibited, among other works, the original of the heraldic shield of the City of San Javier Almela Costa painted in 1955.

The exhibition is framed in the commemoration of the 180th anniversary of the establishment of the City of San Javier, was inaugurated last night by the mayor, José Miguel Luengo and the councilman of Culture David Martinez, after the conference "San Javier and municipalities of the Mar Menor in the context of segregation, "which offered local historian Ruben Lora, in the hall of the City Council.

The mayor of Culture, David Martinez presented the exhibition which highlights the shield of the painter who won a Almela Costa convened by the City but never became official competition.

Martinez explained that a complaint, which prospered, it considered too complex to represent a City Hall.

Later, the historian Gregorio Jimenez commissioned by the City Council developed a simplification of the shield that ended up being the official until today.

Along with the two shields include a third, the result of the reinterpretation made of it, the painter Murcia Muñoz Barberán in 1994, when he painted several watercolors of different municipalities that can also be seen in the sample which also include most recent to the collection signed by Nono Garcia, Nicholas of Maya and Saura Look additions.

David Martinez explained that the exhibition is the result of the work of inventorying being carried out with all the property of the City paintings that are scattered in the various municipal offices.

The works come from the contests of painting outdoors, whose prizes become the property of the City, acquisitions and assignment exhibitions and posters of festivals and local events, contemporary authors with whom intend to continue enriching Pictorial Collection Municipal.

with a tribute to the last four deceased mayors, who will name a street of the town, which will take place in the hall of the City Hall, followed by a concert of the Symphonic Band of San Javier, in the square of Spain.
