The appointment of the Peasant, Sailor and Pirate 2017 inaugurates tomorrow the new festive venue with 28 barracks of clubs (23/11/2017)

The new festive venue with its 29 barracks opened by the peñas opens Friday at 10pm with the Proclamation Act of the Peasant, Sailor and Pirate 2017, titles that this year have fallen to Llorema Madrid, Antonio Luengo and José María Martínez, respectively .

The titles of Peasant, Sailor and Pirate are awarded each year by the festeras peñas, in a historical nod introduced years ago in the festive program, in reference to the first settlers of what is now the municipality of San Javier, an area inhabited by peasants and fishermen who were often assaulted by Berber pirates.

The young Llorema Madrid, from El Mirador, has been chosen as Campesina 2017 in recognition of her work for the start-up in the municipality of a cheese factory where the first cheese sheep author of the Region of Murcia is produced.

Technical Engineer of Public Works specialized in Hydrology, Llorema did a Master in Foreign Trade that opened her eyes to start a family business after having trained professionally in the production of cheese.

The general director of Mar Menor, Antonio Luengo, a native of El Mirador and a resident of San Javier, was chosen for the title of Sailor 2017 for his important role with the Mar Menor.

Lluengo, who is an engineer in Automatic and Industrial Electronics, became in May 2017 the first political position that assumed the exclusive competences of the Mar Menor, after having passed through the municipal corporation in two legislatures, one in the opposition and another as responsible in the government of the councils of Urbanism, Environment, Agriculture, Sanctions, Internal Regime and Personnel.

The third prize winner, José María Martínez Miralles, comes from the economic sphere from one of the largest companies in the municipality, Grupo Caliche, of which he is the CEO.

Trained in Business Management and Management in Guilford (England) and the Business Institute of Madrid, José María Martínez heads the Caliche Corporate Group, which currently operates in 97 countries, along with his brothers David and Jaime.

He was one of the founders of the Association of Young Entrepreneurs of the Region of Murcia and named Best Young Entrepreneur of the Region of Murcia in 2010, leading the Caliche Group, from where he also promotes important social work through the Remedios Miralles Foundation.

The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo will be in charge of delivering the awards to the three winners who will be protected by the flag bearers of the 29 festeras clubs that distribute sympathy among the first three residents of the area.

At the end of the event, the peñas of the peñas will open their doors, many of them with a gastronomic offer of the best Murcian dishes that will remain open to the public until December 8.
