Dianne Reeves and Bobby Hutcherson & Cedar Walton Quartet, will star in one of the finest nights of the Festival de Jazz de San Javier (15/07/2010)

Vocal jazz diva Dianne Reeves, considered by many the best contemporary jazz singer and genuine heir of the great voices of S.

XX as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan or admired the second concert will offer a night of jazz elegant and full of exquisite pictures that begin with two capital letters in the history of jazz, modern king of the vibraphone, and the great Bobby Hutcherson pianist Cedar Walton's quartet formation.

Dianne Reeves, who has one of the most qualified and comprehensive voices in contemporary jazz world, offers its first concert in Jazz San Javier, accompanied by a band comprised of luxury Romero Lubambo on guitar, Peter Martin on piano, Reginald Veal on bass and Tereon Gully on drums.

With a songbook as extensive as her voice, which fit comfortably on blues, soul, pop, and jazz queen in the classic, the debut in San Javier Jazz Dianne Reeves promises not to disappoint the great expectations raised by his presence vocal jazz lovers.

Discovered by trumpeter Clark Terry in a school competition, Dianne Reeves began his career in the late 70's, soon getting their early success and recognition.

Their participation at the "Echoes of Ellington" (1987) in Los Angeles in honor of Duke Ellington was decisive for the future career of Dianne Reeves thereafter linked to the famous Blue Note house, whose president Bruce Lundvall offered after listening to a live recording.

His early albums with Blue Note, "Dianne Reeves", "I Remember", "Quiet After The Store" were big hits and is universally accepted to be strengthened further with the recording of "The Grand Encounter" with jazz greats as Joe Williams, Clark Terry, Toots Thielemans and Kenny Barron, among others.

His rise continued to hit and in the new century and four Grammy Awards confirmed their title of "Best Jazz Vocal Performance" for his album "In the Moment" (2001), "The Calling" (2002), "A Little Moonlight" ( 2003) and "Good Night and Good Luck" (2006), the soundtrack for the film of the same name that starred Dianne Reeves.

Bobby Hutcherson & Cedar Walton, two jazz giants recently awarded the NEA Jazz Masters Award, the highest distinction in the world of jazz in America, will be responsible for opening night Friday at the Festival de Jazz de San Javier, accompanied by the renowned drummer Eddie Marshall and bassist David Williams.

Cedar Walton and Bobby Hutcherson began their careers in the 60's, the hard-bop era, fundamental stage in the evolution of modern jazz, in which both were involved in the following years, ending finally linked to a jazz more traditional.

Walton is considered the best pianist of this generation, and Hutcherson responsible, along with Gary Burton to redefine the possibilities of the vibraphone and marimba in jazz.

Blue Note signed soon Hutcherson with whom he recorded his first album "Dialogue" (1965), selected as one of the best of the decade by the magazine "Down Beat".

Together they recorded two dozen albums to late 70's, when Hutcherson formed his own group that joined the marimba which has established itself as a specialist.

Its passage by the Montreux festival recorded "Live in Montreux, 1974" and recordings as "Out to luchnos" with Eric Dolphy, mark some milestones of his long career.

Cedar Walton is a brilliant pianist and composer whose long musical career started in the early formation 60 with the famous "The Jazztet" led by trumpeter Art Farmer, which was two years before joining the Jazz Messengers with drummer Art Blakey with whom he recorded memorable albums as "Free For All" or "Mosaic."

When he left the training starts his solo career playing with trios and quartets and working with singers like Etta James and Abbey Lincoln.
