April Women's Association met several women of different ages and life experiences in the First Forum of Women's Intergenerational Municipality of San Javier, to establish a debate that also involved the public on the current situation of women in the social context under a local focus.
The need to reconcile work and family life before the "untenable" double burden of women today, was one of the conclusions of the symposium in which participants showed the bewildered man to the new role of women therefore suggested the need to create new standards of masculinity and to develop a joint work education.
The mayor of San Javier, Pepa Garcia and the Councillor for Equality, María Angeles Chumillas supported with his participation in the initiative so new and interesting that I hope will be maintained over time, "said the Mayor who opened the event with welcoming remarks the participants and congratulations to the organizers.
The forum, held in the hall of the municipality of San Javier was organized two focus groups composed of different generations "roses" Paquita Naranjo, Benita Cegarra, La Torre and Maria Francisca Diaz, and the younger generation, the "tulip" composed by Celia Martinez, Juanita Carrasco, Marisa Bledsoe, and Ana Maria Drive, moderated by the municipal agent Luis Asensio Lucas equality.
Throughout the debate, the difference that makes the different generations of women is evidenced, among other things, which support the double burden women now facing older generations, which had no professional development opportunities for women although, as explained Benita Cegarra, neither suffered because it was part of the normal.
Access to higher education has also gone from being virtually banned for women, to today when there are more girls than boys in college, but also a greater number of unemployed university.
The Women's Intergenerational Forum I was the first public screening activity of the newly created Association of Women, "April", whose president Celia Martinez, who holds a PhD in Agricultural Engineering, called for adding the voice of experience of older generations the thrust of the current generation.
Celia Martinez defended well, "the common benefit is the positive developments in gender equality and opportunities", and rejected the idea that "investing in empty" when talking about equality.
