The municipality of San Javier has started testing with LED lighting (LED) with which it can achieve savings of more than fifty percent of the electricity needed to produce the same illumination.
The tests, supervised by the city engineer, are being conducted abroad, with several street lamps in the javelin, and also inside, in a school in San Javier.
This Severo Ochoa school where one of their classrooms have been replaced with eight 36-watt fluorescent tubes each other eight tubes of the same size with LED lighting and 15 watts per unit.
Utility technicians will determine at this time, the correct operation of this new technology and whether the degree of user satisfaction is appropriate for deciding on future investments in LED lighting.
In practice, the lighting provided by lamps with LEDs are similar to those already existing, taking on their behalf, providing white light and is preferred by users against the yellow light given off by the current streetlights.
Electricity savings amount of the benefits of this technology a lower environmental impact, long life and reduced maintenance costs.
The benefits should offset the increased cost involved in choosing this technology at the time of acquisition compared to the rest.
This type of lighting could be incorporated into public buildings as well as abroad.
The initiative is part of the development of National Strategic Action Plan for Energy Saving and Efficiency in Spain that develops various European directives relating to energy saving.
