The pianist Chick Corea will receive the Prize of the San Javier Jazz Festival 2018 that will be given to him after the concert he will offer at the closing of the festival, on July 28, accompanied by his legendary Trio, Akoustic Band with bassist John Pattituci and the drummer Dave Weckl.
This will be his second concert at the San Javier Jazz Festival where Chick Corea performed in 1999 with the group Origin and the vibraphonist Gary Burton.
Chick Corea, one of the greatest pianists of his generation, who has won 20 Grammy awards, has a special bond with Spanish music and has stated on many occasions that part of his heart is Spanish.
Precisely, "My Spanish Heart" that gives name to one of his classic albums served the Jazz Festival of San Javier to name the homage he gave him two years ago under the title "Our Spanish Heart" in which he gathered some of the jazz musicians more linked to Chick Corea in a remembered concert production of Jazz San Javier with the musical direction of bassist Carles Benavent.
