"Readings to pass the drink" is the title of the last campaign to promote reading and the book undertaken by the library of San Javier, in this case with the collaboration of the Department of Commerce.
The initiative involves several pubs and bars that will host small deposits of books available to their customers, and punctual performances related to literature with monologues, recitals and music.
The Councilman of Culture David Martinez, the library coordinator, Toni Diaz, and the head of the Local Development Agency, Juan de Dios Gonzalez presented this morning the inaugural cycle of "Readings with drinks" that starts today at 8pm.
in the Brother's 6 pub with the visit of Jesús Tiscar, winner of the Getafe 2016 Black Novel contest that will offer a monologue on the process of literary creation and present his novel "The Japanese Bald".
The cafeteria "Around the corner" will host a recital by Murcia poet Alberto Caride on May 17.
Also participating is the "Siglo XXI" pub that will receive Víctor M Mirete with "Los monólogos de la ira", on May 24.
In "Forum", Santiago de la Ribera will be the local actor "Roper" who speaks in mood of books and readings, on June 7 and the poet Paco Domínguez will perform with his guitar in "El Zoco", La Manga del Mar Menor, covering songs by great singer-songwriters on June 8.
The Councilor for Culture David Martinez stressed that it is "a very creative and innovative project that aims to take the book to the street and continue to promote culture."
From the hospitality sector also they see it with good eyes since "the premises can count on a new offer able to increase its activity", indicated Juan de Dios González.
Toni Díaz, recalled that books that will be left on deposit in the premises, can be read at home at home by users who can return them in the same place or in the rest of the circuit.
Díaz recalled other projects undertaken from the library of San Javier to get the book off the shelves as the similar "Lecturas chiringuiteras", in summer, the book market, the bibliohospital or punctual bookcrossing actions.
