The Minister of Defense María Dolores de Cospedal today imposed the Tie of the Order of Civil Merit granted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation to the General Air Academy in the institutional act of the 75th Anniversary of the AGA that was held in the courtyard of arms of the military compound, which began with the reading of the founding decree of the Academy dated July 28, 1943.
The high distinction received today by the AGA, where more than 10,000 students have passed in its 75 years of history, started from an initiative of the Popular group in the Regional Assembly of Murcia, supported unanimously by all the political groups.
"An unequivocal sign of the harmony of the Army and society," said AGA Director Colonel Miguel Ivorra Ruiz in his address, which began with a congratulatory message from His Majesty the King, Felipe VI, in which he recalled his time as a student in the Military Academy of San Javier.
The central act of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the AGA in 2018 was attended by the Government delegate in Murcia, Francisco Bernabé, the president of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras and the mayors of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo and Los Alcázares, Anastasio Bastida who, as hosts of the Air Force, accompanied the Minister, María Dolores de Cospedal, the Chief of the Air Staff, Javier Salto Martínez-Avial and the Colonel Director of the AGA , Miguel Ivorra Ruiz.
The event also had a broad representation of the different political groups, mayors of the region and other civil and military authorities.
The colonel director of the AGA, Miguel Ivorra emphasized the human capital that has populated the 75 years of history "of this dream factory where the desire of hundreds of young people to become aviators of the Army becomes reality".
"The cradle of our officers" added the director of the AGA has hosted throughout its history to 10,109 students and trained 4,174 pilots adding 938,000 hours of teaching flight with more than 17 types of aircraft some of which as the Bücker , T6, a Mentor plane, a pillán and a C-101 made their appearance in the air parade that preceded the terrestrial one, followed by the Eagle Patrol.
The commemorative act of the 75th Anniversary ended with an offering to the Fallen by Spain and the inauguration by the Minister of Defense, María Dolores de Cospedal of the 75th Anniversary monument, a sculpture made by Fundirmental representing the effort of its human potential represented by a cadet, a pilot teacher, and a military support representative of all groups, holding the emblem of the 75th Anniversary.
The assistants later attended a Spanish wine that the Minister opened with a toast of congratulations to the General Air Academy for the celebration of its 75 years of history.
