Unauthorized appropriation of large quantities of narcotic drugs
The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the operation 'ONIROS, has identified, located, arrested and brought to court an employee of a hospital for the theft of narcotic drugs, which is attributed the alleged authorship of crimes of theft and against public health.
In a hospital center, a mismatch was detected in the consumption of narcotic drugs framed in the group of opiates, for which a medical prescription is necessary and over which a strict application control is followed in patients, since they are prescribed in case of intense pain, preoperative and always under supervision.
The management of the center reported the circumstance to the Inspection of the Murcian Health Service and the Civil Guard, due to the risk that these drugs entail if they are not applied in a controlled manner.
Citizen security prevention agents began the operation in order to clarify the facts and arrest their perpetrators.
Fruit of the first inquiries and thanks to the robotic system of medication control that the health center has, the identity of a possible author of the facts was ascertained, being the same a professional who has been working in different floors of the hospital for several months. .
After obtaining all the necessary evidence, the civil guards have located and arrested the suspect in the hospital center itself, where as a precautionary measure he had already been banned from accessing risk drugs.
He is credited with the alleged authorship of the crimes of theft and against public health.
The analysis of the information obtained during the investigation shows that in a single month the prisoner, allegedly, would have stolen up to one hundred and fifty ampoules of morphine hydrochloride, which are applied by injection through the intramuscular route, thus causing an effect greater than the classic consumption of banned substances carried out by respiratory route.
The value of the subtracted ampoules, although not of great amount because they are exclusive hospital use drugs, could have a value in the illicit market that would exceed 1,000 euros.
The Spanish detainee, 42 years old, neighbor of Torrevieja (A) and with a background for similar crimes, along with the proceedings, has been made available to the Court of Instruction of San Javier (Murcia).
