The II Festival of Amateur Theater "Francisco Rubio" continues this weekend with the last two works in competition: "With Carmen, five moments" from Perfil Teatro, from León, and "One night at home, ma'am" with the group Coliseo, Callosa del Segura, Alicante.
On Sunday at 8pm, the winners will be announced in the different categories before the theater group San Javier closes with "Medea" the contest that last weekend filled the theater of the "Prince of Asturias" center in Santiago de La Ribera, with "Presas" by Carafur and Teatro de la Baranda, by Elche and "El gran tacaño", with the company of Teatro Circo Apolo, from El Algar.
The León Perfil Studio company, which will perform on Friday, May 18 at 9:30 p.m., premiered with the production "Con Carmen, cinco momentos" a version of "Cinco horas con Mario", by Miguel Delibes, by Sonia Martínez and Javier Bermejo, with which they were awarded in Moratalla.
As in the original text, the work is based on the soliloquy of Carmen with the funeral urn of her husband Mario.
The memories of the widow reveal the differences and lack of communication between the couple, easily extrapolated to the conflict of the "two spains" of the historical moment reflected by Delibes.
On Saturday May 19 comes the veteran company of Callosa del Segura, Coliseo, with the replacement of one of his most successful productions "Una noche en su casa, señora", by Jean de Létraz, a comedy of entanglement, fast paced and laughs with love in the background.
The group that has won several national awards since it was founded in 2001, retakes this hilarious vaudeville starring a gambler, a servant, an adulterer, a romantic, a provincial and a lady of the Cretaceous.
On Sunday, May 20, the awards ceremony will take place in the categories of best work and best director, with cash prizes of 2000 and 800 euros respectively, and trophies for the best actors and actresses protagonists and cast.
The awards ceremony will begin at 8pm and will be followed by the premiere of "Medea" with the host group, the San Javier theater group that acts as a guest group.
José Antonio Navas covers and directs the famous work of Euripides, faithful to the original text in which he includes contributions from other classics as well as his own and a dreamlike part in which Medea confronts his memories.
All the works are represented in the theater of the "Prince of Asturias" center of Santiago de la Ribera, with free access until full capacity is reached.
