The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo thanked today the president of the AECC Delegation of San Javier, Antonio Cerezuela the work being developed by the association in the municipality, and especially the campaign deployed this morning in the Plaza de España coinciding with the Day World without tobacco.
Luengo highlighted the effort of the local Association against Cancer "to transfer to society the consequences of smoking" through a stand in which volunteers of the association invited the public to quit smoking, distributing information about the program to stop smoking "Esfúmate del Tabaco", and the campaign of the CCAA of the Region of Murcia, aimed at young people #Nonsmokingchallenge.
Antonio Cerezuela recalled that the association organizes courses to stop smoking continuously when the quota of 20 interested people is completed.
The course lasts for six weeks, with one session every Monday.
Currently one of these courses is being taught, which goes for the second week.
Cerezuela recalled that six million people die every year in the world for causes directly related to tobacco whose disappearance would mean that lung cancer or larynx, happen to have a low incidence.
Throughout the morning, the volunteers of the Association against Cancer of San Javier have been informing the population and inviting smokers to participate in the courses taught at the headquarters.
They also recalled that on June 28 and 29, mammograms will be performed in San Javier, in a unit that will be installed in Almansa Park, aimed at women between 45 and 49 years of age.
These tests, like any of the services provided by the association, are free.
Those interested should only register by phone 968 28 45 88
