About 1,000 athletes between 9 and 10 years old, belonging to 61 teams, will participate tomorrow, Saturday, June 2, at the 2018 Minibasket Day, which will be held at the facilities of the San Javier municipal sports center.
The Councilor for Sports, Estíbaliz Masegosa, the president of the Marme Sports Association, Antonio Pérez and the head of competitions of the Basketball Federation of the Region of Murcia, Benito García presented today at the City Hall of San Javier the regional meeting with which the Federation dismisses the season among the youngest.
The day will begin at 10am with more than 60 games to be played on the seven courts in the central and auxiliary pavilions of the sports venue until 6:30 p.m. when the delivery of medals to all participants and one trophy per team will take place " since it is not a competition but a fun and convivial day ", explained Benito García.
Antonio Pérez, president of the Asociación Deporte Marme, host of the event in which he participates with two teams, one male and one female, recalled that about 100 volunteers of the Association will work throughout the day in which a picnic will be delivered to the participants who will also enjoy the pool and other activities throughout the day.
The event, which will attract more than 3000 companions of young athletes, is organized by the Basketball Federation of the Region of Murcia for 20 years, 15 of which has been held in San Javier.
Councilor for Sports, Estibaliza Masegosa thanked the representative of the Federation for the trust in San Javier for the celebration of this "so endearing" event as well as the Marme Sports Association that acts as hostess and works with about 100 volunteers together with the municipal services to ensure the success of the celebration.
