The XXX International Folklore Festival of San Javier will be held from June 21 to 24 with two official galas, one regional on Friday 22 June and another national and international on Saturday June 23, with groups from the Region of Murcia, Galicia and Serbia.
The program will be completed with a folkloric exhibition on Sunday 24 at the Barnuevo esplanade, and the inauguration of a sculpture on Neptune Avenue, on Thursday 21, dedicated to the local group "Mar Menor Choirs and Dances" on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
The Festival has the collaboration of the Peñas Huertanas Federation that will install an Huertano ethnic area that can be visited every day of the Festival in the Plaza de España, which is repeated as the outdoor venue of the event.
The councilman of Culture, David Martinez accompanied by the mayor of Celebrations, Pedro Lopez and the president of the group Mar Menor Choirs and Dances, Antonio Pérez Avilés, presented this morning at the Museum of San Javier the program that includes the folk group "Villa de Alhama "and the peña huertana" El Ciazo ", of Torreagüera that will perform at the gala on Friday 22 dedicated to regional folklore along with the local group" Mar Menor Choirs and Dances ".
Galicia will be the autonomous community invited with the group "Rosalía de Castro" who will take part in the gala on Saturday 23 June with the group of Serbia "Hajduk Stanko-Sabac".
The folklore will also approach the sea on Sunday, June 24 with an exhibition of the Serbian group with the group "Mar Menor Choirs and Dances" at 12 noon on the Barnuevo esplanade, in Santiago de la Ribera.
Culture Councilman David Martinez highlighted the celebration in 2018 of the 50th anniversary of the group of Mar Menor Choirs and Dances, from San Javier, which promoted the Festival 30 years ago, which is why it will be honored with the discovery of a sculpture in the Newly remodeled avenue Neptuno, San Javier.
Martínez explained that it is a conceptual work elaborated by the artist Manu Moya, from Pilar de la Horadada, Alicante, who represents an orchard.
The mayor of Culture thanked the collaboration of the Federation of Peñas Huertanas that will contextualize the Festival, one more year, with the installation of an enclosure of marked costumbrista character that reproduces what life was like in the garden.
The councilman of Celebrations, Pedro Lopez congratulated to the group of Choirs and Dances Mar Menor by its 50 years of history and announced a gala finale, with a piro musical show to the sound of La Parranda for Saturday night.
The new president of the group of Choirs and Dances, Antonio Pérez Avilés also thanked the involvement of the City of San Javier with the maintenance of the folkloric tradition in the municipality and vindicated the children's participation for future editions of the Festival.
