The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, along with the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, attended the election today and the coronation of the queen and the ladies of the municipality's municipal center for the elderly.
Tomás said that "the objective of the actions of the regional and local government is to improve the quality of life of the elderly, proposing active aging programs, with special attention to vulnerable people, and always based on values ​​such as dignity, humanism and the Solidarity".
The program that the IMAS offers in its senior centers includes workshops to promote health and well-being, personal development and life cycle and training projects, social participation and volunteering.
The Department of Family and Equal Opportunities this year will allocate some 800,000 euros to serve the elderly of San Javier, which has 146 places accredited by the Murcia Institute of Social Action (IMAS).
