The Councilor for Sports, Estibalia Masegosa delivered yesterday the diplomas and scholarships to the students of 5th and 6th grade of Primary Education of the municipality who have participated in the municipal School Sports program in the modalities of Canoeing and Sailing during the present course.
The closing of the course with the delivery of diplomas was held in the auditorium of the Department of Youth coinciding with the presentation of the Nautical Campus, one of the novelties of the municipal offer of Sports Schools for the summer.
A group of 56 students, selected by the monitors among the most outstanding of each modality, received the scholarships granted by the council so that they can continue their learning of canoeing and sailing with an intensive course in local schools, whose dates may be chosen in the next months.
In the same act, three thank-you plaques were presented to the Socaire Sports Association, Los Arcos Sailing School, and Mar Menor Canoe School, which welcomed the children during the course.
The school kayak and sailing program has been held for years, offered by the Department of Sports, in the schools of the municipality in order to promote water sports among children of the municipality that this summer also have a Nautical Campus.
The Nautical Campus, which is one of the novelties of the summer offer of the municipal Sports Center for ages between 8 and 14, will have two editions, one from July 2 to 13 and another from 16 to 27 of the same month.
The participants, who must know how to swim and have autonomy in the aquatic environment, will practice sailing, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, paddle surfing, dragon boat and games and beach sports, among other activities, with a schedule from 09:00 to 13: 30h
The price of the Campus will be 70 euros for subscribers and 95 for non-subscribers.
