The relationship between painting and music is accentuated by entering the jazz field, the most plastic musical genre and that has been most closely linked to the visual arts.
Coinciding with the start of the Jazz Festival of San Javier, the hall of the City Council hosts, from tomorrow, Friday, June 30 at 9:00 p.m., the exhibition "Volum.4 Variations on Jazz" in which 17 artists directed by Gonzalo Elvira perform multiple creations with jazz as the central axis.
Gonzalo Elvira is the artistic tutor of this group of artists based in Barcelona immersed in this project that starts from Jazz and continues to evolve in each new appointment with the public.
The exhibition of San Javier is the fourth stop of the project whose first edition under the title "Jazzuela" was presented within the Jazz Festival of Barcelona in 2013, followed by two other dates in Terrassa, coinciding with its Jazz Festival, and Lleida.
The exhibition represents different facets of this musical genre, although it pays special attention to the tradition of designing vinyl covers whose design has a great tradition in the world of jazz.
In fact, the core of the project is a vinyl box-tray, where each of the participating artists has made a collection of ten album cover designs in which we can find portraits of Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, or Bill Evans , among others to more conceptual works made with different techniques.
The exhibition, organized by the Department of Culture of the City of San Javier, is completed with a section of free-inspired jazz paintings that can be seen in the hall of the City during the month of July.
The exhibition unfolds with a sample of 17 large-scale works made by the same artists that will be exhibited in the garden of Casa Barnuevo, in Santiago de la Ribera.
