The improvement of accessibility, mobility and the continuity of a safer bike lane are the objectives of the first performance of "La Manga 365", in La Manga del Mar Menor with the remodeling of a section of 1.5 kilometers, between kilometer 4, at the height of the Souk, to the Eurovosa area at kilometer 5.5 of the Gran Vía.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructures Patricio Valverde and the Mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, pledged today in San Javier the works of the project to be carried out by the City Council of San Javier, co-financed with European funds for Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development (EDUSI) and by the Autonomous Community
The presentation was also attended by the president of the Federation of People with Physical Disabilities, Famdif, Carmen Gil, accompanied by staff from her technical office who designed the project.
The works of this new section include a total of 232 actions along 1,475 meters as the modification of 7 bus stops to ensure the safety of travelers and avoid traffic interruptions.
In addition, 13 crosswalk crosswalks to the Gran Vía and 24 parallels are modified, and the sidewalk is extended by four points.
The new section will have ramps to avoid unevenness and eliminates existing obstacles in the pedestrian itinerary as well as giving continuity to the bike lane.
It will also have 13 new fords for people with disabilities, and the delimitation of six areas of pedestrian itinerary.
The project is pending bidding by the City of San Javier, which plans to start work after the summer, with a maximum budget of 375,000 euros and a deadline of three months according to the agreement signed today at the City of San Javier between the Mayor, José Miguel Luengo and the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde.
The Mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, highlighted the work carried out by Famdif, an association with which the City Council has a collaboration agreement to guarantee accessibility in the public works of the municipality, in a section that qualified as a model for the rest of La Manga and that will have continuity along the Gran Vía in new phases.
Luengo pointed out the importance of the "La Manga 365" project through which the regional government will continue investing in new improvement projects for La Manga, after obtaining the approval of its EDUSI Strategy.
In total will be 18.7 million euros, said the Minister of Development Patricio Valverde through a strategy whose ultimate goal is to "deseasonalize La Manga to contribute to the improvement of economic activity and employment."
Patricio Valverde pointed out as key points of the project the improvement of mobility and universal accessibility, the improvement of connectivity through Smart City programs, as well as solving the problem of parking by creating new areas to park, and putting value of the ecosystem of the area.
