The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo and the Councilor for Sports, Estíbaliz Masegosa received yesterday at City Hall four young members of the Judo Municipal Club who have just promoted Black Belt, 1st and 2nd Dan, in addition to having won several championships in Spain, in Lucha, a sport that combines with Judo in the same club.
Carmen Lera, 17, who opens 2nd Dan, has been proclaimed champion of Spain in Lucha.
Rubén López, 15, who has just won the 2nd Dan, has been runner-up in Spain in Greco-Roman Wrestling and Team Champion of Spain.
María Martínez, 15 years old, opens her Black Belt and also has a Spanish championship in Lucha.
Jaime Muñoz, 17 years old opens as 1st Dan and prepares for arbitration.
"Everyone is prepared to defend themselves against any type of aggression," explained his coach, who highlighted "the enormous effort and hours of training" that is involved in obtaining the Black Belt as a pass from Dan, or level within the practice of Judo.
The mayor, José Miguel Luengo congratulated the young athletes whom he encouraged to continue to exceed to reach new goals in his favorite sport.
