The Real Club de Regatas of Santiago de la Ribera celebrated yesterday a very special event, within the various events that have been organized throughout this year as a commemoration of its 100 years of history.
The Club del Mar Menor wanted to recognize his work and dedication to the Spanish Navy by granting him the title of Honorary Member, delivered by Horacio Sánchez, president of the RCR Santiago de la Ribera and received by Manuel de la Puente, Admiral of Maritime Action and Vice Admiral.
The act, given the weather conditions, could not be held at the Club facilities as planned, so it was moved to the Sports Sciences Faculty of San Javier.
Many personalities of sport, culture and politics of the Region of Murcia met in the auditorium of the faculty of Murcia, among which Javier Celdrán, Employment, Universities, Business and Environment Advisor;
Diego Conesa, Government Delegate in Murcia;
Javier Ruano Deputy of the Popular Party in the Congress for Murcia;
Manuel de la Puente, Admiral of Maritime Action and Vice Admiral;
Carlos Albadalejo and Teresa Foncuberta, Lieutenants of the Mayor of San Javier;
Horacio Sánchez, president of RCR Santiago de la Ribera, accompanied by his Commodore, Carlos Martínez and various members of the board of directors, as well as Arturo García, president of the Sailing Federation of the Region of Murcia.
De la Puente wanted to thank the Club for the appointment which has always worked in the promotion of nautical sports.
For the Admiral of Maritime Action, the appointment is a great honor to be part of this centenary club.
Sanchez, meanwhile, wanted to emphasize that "on behalf of the Club we want to especially thank the Spanish Navy for their presence, as well as the Sports faculty and the City of San Javier for the support provided for the celebration of this event", adding that "for our Club to count as an Honorary Member of the Spanish Navy is a real pride and it fills us with satisfaction".
The act was closed with the Performance of the Music Unit of the Third Degree of Marine Infantry that interpreted various pieces of military marches, after which a wine of honor was served.
