The General Director of Cultural Heritage of the Region of Murcia, Juan Antonio Lorca was commissioned to proclaim Christmas in San Javier on Saturday night at the church of San Francisco Javier where the exhibition "Belenes con historia" was inaugurated. .
The exhibition that can be visited during all the Christmas exhibited in the chapels and side aisles of the temple hosts pieces and compositions from different collections and periods, coming from some of the most traditional workshops in the country.
The initial act of Christmas in the municipality was moved to the City of San Javier to inaugurate in the hall of the building the "Bethlehem de la Marquesa", an original Nativity scene based on the Neapolitan eighteenth-century Nativity scene, work of the Friends of Bethlehem Association San Javier.
The name of the Bethlehem refers to the Marchioness of Corvera and Las Almenas, Maria Teresa Riquelme Arce, owner of the house that was sold in 1878 so that the town council of the municipality could be located in its place.
As every year, at this time the Marchioness accompanied by her maid returned to appear in flesh and blood in what was his home, walking among the attendees.
