The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo received today at the City Hall the players of the women's beach soccer team AIS Playas de San Javier after winning the European title in the Women's Euro Winners Cup Championship held the first week of June in Nazareth , Portugal
Luengo congratulated the players, coach and team leaders "for a title so coveted that a Spanish team had never won before" and for having "made history through sports by the name of our municipality" in national and international competitions in those that participate.
Andrea Miró, one of the players recalled the final "very suffered" but victorious that came after winning to Russia in the second round, the team that last year eliminated them in the semifinals being third.
The European champions are now immersed in the national beach soccer league in which they are second in the standings tied to points with the first after playing the first phase in Malaga and the second, last weekend at the beach of Las Higuericas , Pilar de la Horadada, where they will return in two weeks to play the three remaining games.
Another of the players, Laura Gallego confesses the desire to add more titles of the team, both in the national league and in the Spanish Cup that will be played next weekend in Alicante.
