The bars of Santiago de la Ribera and La Manga will become temporary headquarters of the library of San Javier during the summer months with a deposit of books that the public can pick up and return freely at the beach The "Readings chiringuiteras" are consolidated in the summer offer of the library with more campaigns to encourage reading, contests, workshops, storytelling for children, events and book presentations.
There will also be no rest for the library service that a group of volunteers keeps throughout the year distributing books in the rooms of the Los Arcos hospital.
The Councilor for Culture, David Martinez, who together with the library coordinator, Toni Díaz, presented the summer campaign of the library, reminded that at this time "the library goes out to the street and the beach with fresh proposals that invite us to continue reading".
In addition to the chiringuitos the weekly markets, Santiago de la Ribera and La Manga, will also be a must with the "Book Market", in which books donated previously are offered free of charge.
Toni Díaz recalled that there will be no shortage of reading campaigns adapted to the summer, such as "Leer compensates" with which, when returning a title, you enter a raffle for tickets to the Theater Festival.
"The good reader's notebook", aimed at children under 14 years, invites to complete a book with title read with insured prize.
For lovers of "selfies", "In San Javier it reads" invites to be photographed reading in any recognizable place of the municipality with a hotel night, in Mar Menor hotels and the Mediterranean Sea, as a prize for the winner, who must send the photo to the whatsapp of the libraries 636484114.
In the training chapter there will be two workshops, one for adults on "How to publish a book" with José Bocanegra on Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the library.
The scrapbooking workshop will be aimed at children between 8 and 10 years old and will be held on July 20 and 27 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.
As the rest of activities will be open and free, although they require prior registration.
The storytellers will arrive at the biblitoecas of Santiago de la Ribera and La Manga del Mar Menor with two sessions in July and another two in August.
A performance of poetry and saxophone on July 26 with Fernando Postigo and poet María Jesús Mena, and the presentation of the book "Águilas y Garras" by Ramón Franco complete the summer program that includes more than 20 different activities for all ages.
The detailed program can be obtained in the triptychs distributed in public places by the libraries of San Javier and consult on the web https://www.bibliotecaspublicas.es/sanjavier/
