The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo and the general director of Roads, José Antonio Fernández today supervised the start of the works of the new pedestrian crossing that will link Pozo Aledo with the urban core of San Javier with which the current one is replaced by another of larger dimensions and safer for pedestrians.
The Ministry of Development through the Directorate General of Roads will invest 327,000 euros in the works that consist of the construction of a new pedestrian crossing under the branch of the AP7 with a concrete frame 2.5 meters high by 5 wide , in front of the 2 meters of height by 2 of width that the previous one had.
The General Director of Roads, José Antonio Fernández explained that the works, which will be completed in April 2020, include the adaptation of the sidewalks from the exit of Pozo Aledo to connect with the existing ones in the direction of San Javier, with a continuous railing of security in the section that coincides with road.
The illumination of the entire section will be carried out with external rods and projectors in the lower section with LED technology so that it is continuous throughout the performance.
The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo said that "today is an important day because it responds to a historical claim of the neighbors and the City Hall of a decent, accessible and safe pedestrian crossing."
Luengo thanked the Autonomous Community for its investment in improving the road safety of pedestrians, which until now only have access for which a rainwater passage was used that left it useless in rainy episodes.
Luengo advanced that soon the reorganization works of the Pozo Aledo roundabout will be tendered, located a few meters in which more than one million euros will be invested.
The mayor of San Javier explained the works of the roundabout have been delayed a little more by the necessary procedures with the State Highway Demarcation to include the defendant access from Pozo Aledo to Cartagena with a new branch by the AP7 that will soon be a reality .
