Mayor José Miguel Luengo today received Rubén Escudero, a 30-year-old from San Javier, current chief chef of the Manko restaurant in Paris, and head of Concept Development for Europe and the Middle East of Acurio's international restaurants, one of the most prominent chefs of today's international cuisine.

Rubén Escudero, who spends a few days with his family in San Javier, has remembered his career during his meeting with the mayor, since he tried in the cooking school of the Tourism Qualification Center of Murcia, CCT, where he trained as chief cook and where he discovered that cooking would be his life thereafter.

Without wasting time, Rubén, who started at a restaurant in Campoamor, Alicante, soon moved to Pamplona with Enrique Martínez at the Baluarte restaurant and shortly thereafter to the Basque Country, where he continued to learn in Mugaritz kitchens with Andoni Aduriz.

There he came into contact with the cuisine of the South American continent thanks to a few days and opted to pack and continue learning outside of Spain.

Gastón Acurio accepted him in his kitchens, becoming head chef of the prestigious restaurant "Astrid y Gastón" in Lima, Peru for four years.

Become a trusted man of the famous Peruvian chef, Rubén Escudero has been in charge of opening new restaurants in the international chain of Acurio.

After passing through Madrid with the opening of a restaurant with the Acurio label, he went to Paris for the opening of two new restaurants, one of them Manko where he serves as head chef, combining his work with the development of new projects in different countries.

Despite his training and experience, Rubén Escudero says he hopes to be prepared to start his own project that he admits is his goal as a cook.

Mayor José Miguel Luengo has congratulated Rubén for the professional career he has developed despite his youth and the short time he has since leaving San Javier and the CCT of Murcia and has encouraged him for his future project in who also contemplates his return to the Region.
