The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo has met this morning in Murcia with the president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura, Mario Urrea, with whom he has addressed different possible solutions to the problems suffered by the municipality by the boulevards in episodes of torrential rains.
José Miguel Luengo, accompanied by the mayor of Public Services, María Dolores Ruiz and Urbanismo, Antonio Martínez and part of his technical team, has informed the President of the CHS of the actions that the City Council and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia are carrying out in the municipality to alleviate the consequences of the avenues although it has warned that "they will be insufficient if it is not acted in the high areas of the ramblas".
The mayor of San Javier has insisted on the need to start the construction of the containment levees, as proposed by the San Javier City Council in 2017 and that the Ministry of Ecological Transition agreed to include in the Discharge Plan 0 to the Mar Menor, although they lack execution date.
José Miguel Luengo pointed out that "stopping the waters where the waters are generated is key so that they do not arrive with the force that they do to San Javier and finally to the Mar Menor loaded with waste".
The president of the CHS, Mario Urrea, pledged to analyze the construction of dikes in the upper areas of the ramblas.
