Mayor José Miguel Luengo has chaired this morning the emergency coordination meeting due to the storm of wind and rain that affects the municipality without causing, so far, major damage, according to technical services.
Among the recorded incidents is the fall of a pine branch in the Los Pescadores neighborhood and a palm tree on the AGA avenue during the past morning due to strong wind gusts that have also dragged containers in areas such as Gran Vía de La Manga del Mar Menor and have left without traffic light the district of El Mirador.
In the Estacio, the currents have floated one of the cables that connects the two stirrups of the bridge, which has forced to cut the navigation to proceed to its repair.
The rain forced to cut the road of the old airport, which is currently closed, due to waterlogging.
The forecasts on the evolution of the storm indicate the persistence of rain intermittently and with peaks of intensity until tomorrow Tuesday.
The AEMET keeps the yellow warning for rain until tonight while it has disabled the orange warning for winds.
At the end of the meeting the mayor, José Miguel Luengo said that municipal services are closely following the consequences that the storm is leaving in the municipality and working to give them a solution as soon as possible.
The mayor recommended prudence to the population for the duration of the storm that according to forecasts will be concluded tomorrow Tuesday.
