The Governing Board of the FEMP has appointed the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo as president of the Environment Commission for the 2019-2023 term.
The commission, which will have Anna Martín Cuello, councilor of the Prat de Llobregat as vice president, will have as its main objective to promote policies for the promotion and defense of sustainability at the local level.
Over the next few years and in a coordinated manner in the field of municipalities, the commission will address related issues such as the use of renewable energy, Local Agendas 21, recycling, sustainable use of water or the development of sustainable mobility plans, among other topics.
José Miguel Luengo affirmed that he faces the position as an honor and with the responsibility of promoting whatever initiatives, proposals and actions arise within the commission for the improvement of the environment.
Luengo stressed the importance of the local perspective with which one works from an organ as important as the FEMP in which the municipalities throughout Spain join forces for the benefit of citizens.
