The International Festival of Theater, Music and Dance of San Javier heats engines for its 51 edition that will be held from July 31 to August 22 and whose programming and poster will be announced in May.
The Murcian artist Manuel Páez signs the poster that, in the words of the director of the Festival, David Martínez, "will mean a return to the origins of the theater in Spain with a classic work that will take us back to the origins of the performing arts in the Spanish Middle Ages ".
Manuel Páez exhibited last fall in San Javier with great success a collection of works under the title "Collapsed paradises".
On the programming, David Martínez said that the Festival will feature two of the great shows that will go through the most important summer festivals in Spain with great prominence in Latin American literature.
These are representative works of magical realism, the precursor of the Latin American boom, "Pedro Páramo" by Juan Rulfo and the worldwide success of Chile's Isabel Allede, "The House of Spirits."
"The house of the spirits", whose premiere is scheduled on June 4 at the Spanish Theater will be directed by Carme Portaceli and the adaptation of Anna Maria Ricart.
The Yeclano Paco Azorín will be at the forefront of the scenery of the show produced by the Spanish Theater, Theater Romea de Barcelona and Festival Grec 2020. The story of four generations of the Trueba family will tell Carmen Conesa, Luis Bermejo, Jordi Collet and the cast Inma Cuevas, among others.
Mario Gas will direct "Pedro Páramo" the famous novel by Mexican Juan Rulfo adapted to the theater by Pau Miró with two greats from the Spanish scene, Vicky Peña and Pablo Derqui included in the cast.
