The election of the Carnival Queen 2020 opens tomorrow, February 22, an intense carnival week in Santiago de la Ribera that will last until Sunday, March 1 with the great parade of troupes.
The program, which includes a canine carnival and nights dedicated to chirigotas, choreographies, children's carnival, inclusive carnival, a passport and a carnival cap route, has as its main novelty the I Drag Queen Gala with prizes for the three best , which will be held on Saturday night, February 29.
Pedro López, former councilor of Festejos will be in charge of proclaiming the carnival tomorrow night at 23: 00h in the tent located in the gardens of the "Prince of Asturias" center, minutes before the Queen's election Gala begins.
On this occasion, five muses compete that, together with their muses, will try to surprise the jury with impressive choreographies representing the “The Missing”, “Aire”, “Brasilia”, “Río” and “Makulele” troupes.
The “Olé Olá” and “Akelarre” groups join the previous ones to qualify for the title of Children's Queen at the gala to be held on Sunday, February 23 at 5:00 p.m. in the tent.
In the morning, at 12:00 p.m. the Canine Carnival will be held with exhibition and costume contest at the Barnuevo esplanade.
On Tuesday 25 will be dedicated to children with a children's party from 5:30 p.m.
The Carnival of Associations, inclusive will be held on Wednesday, February 26 at the same time.
The Chirigotas Contest will put the humorous note on the night of Thursday 27, one day before the Carnival Choreography Contest.
The I Drag Queen Gala, which has been premiered with a great success of participants, will be held on Saturday, February 29 from 11:00 p.m. including the show “Diva's Disco” by Roser.
The carnival atmosphere will flood Santiago de la Ribera on Saturday morning with the Pasabares that will depart from the tent at 12: 00h.
The culmination will be the parade of troupes in which more than 3000 people will take the carnival party to the street from Sandoval Avenue to Mar Menor Avenue included.
