Counselor Antonio Luengo reminds CEIP El Mirador students that the recovery of the Mar Menor is everyone's job

The counselor and the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo participated in a round table on the Mar Menor together with representatives of other sectors involved organized by the school on the occasion of their cultural week

The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo participated today with the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment, Antonio Luengo in a round table on the Mar Menor and the conservation of the natural environment organized by the CEIP El Mirador within his cultural week dedicated to environmental awareness.

The round table, which was held before a group of students from the center, in the room of Juntas de Hortamira, also had the director general of the Mar Menor, Miriam Albaladejo and two representatives of COAG and the Fishermen's Association of San Pedro del Pinatar, as sectors involved.

Counselor Antonio Luengo transmitted to students that "the recovery of the Mar Menor is everyone's job" and that "small gestures also count" encouraging them to act responsibly in their environment with the care of the Environment.

Luengo recounted in his speech the "delicate" situation through which the Mar Menor passes as an ecosystem and influenced that in addition to the great actions that the administrations are implementing, there are also other smaller-scale initiatives that contribute to their recovery. He invited them to send him the proposals and conclusions they reach these days.

Both the counselor and the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo agreed on the importance of this initiative of the school as a way to involve children and young people in the preservation of nature from prior knowledge and reflection.

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo stressed that the Hortamira cooperative, where the round table was held, is characterized by dedicating 60 percent of its production to organic farming, and claimed the commitment that the agricultural sector of the municipality makes since long ago for a sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture.

The cultural week of CEIP El Mirador is celebrated from February 21 to March 2 with a program that affects the conservation of the natural environment through various workshops, and specific activities on the importance of trees, responsible water consumption, the Sea Minor, traditional sailing boats, and recycling, among others.

On Monday, March 2, they will hold an open house from 4 to 6 pm to close the program of activities.
