Symphonic and choral music, theater, and processional parades make up the Holy Week program of San Javier presented today by the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez in the Chapel of the Souls of the temple of San Javier.
Accompanied by the pastor of San Javier, Juan Prieto, David Martínez highlighted the participation of the San Javier Symphony Band, the Coral Patnia, or the San Javier theater group in a program that highlights the newly created Brotherhood of the Blessed Soledad of the Mar Menor and with it the procession of Good Friday with the image of the Solitude of the Mar Menor touring the streets of Santiago de la Ribera.
The program announced today begins next Saturday, March 7 with the presentation of the Holy Week 2020 poster, by the artist Daniel Jiménez Díaz, at the Santiago Apóstol temple at 8:00 p.m.
The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo will be in charge of pronouncing the proclamation of Holy Week invited by the Brotherhood of the Most Holy Soledad del Mar Menor and presented by his predecessor, Colonel Miguel Ivorra in an act that will take place in the center " Prince of Asturias ", from Santiago de la Ribera on Saturday, March 14 at 8:00 p.m.
The preambles of the Good Friday parade will include the blessing of an angel donated to the Brotherhood that will accompany the Virgin in the procession of Good Friday, recalled the brother José Alberto Rodríguez who announced an act of recognition to the military of the Air Force, deceased recently, as the procession passed through the AGA door.
The music will arrive with the San Javier Symphony Band on Saturday, March 28 with a concert in which, according to its president Gregorio González, a review of the musical styles of different Holy Weeks of Spain will be made.
Concha López de la coral Patnia presented the sacred music concert that will star in the vocal group on Friday, April 3 at 8:30 p.m. in the church of San Javier.
The representation of "La Pasión" by the San Javier theater group, a tradition that has been maintained for 30 years, as one of its members, Javier López, recalled, will arrive on Saturday April 4 with the temple of San Javier as the stage.
López recalled that this year they will return to San Pedro del Pinatar and will premiere in Pilar de la Horada with the story of Jesus' death and crucifixion that will also lead to the San José residence of San Javier.
The Holy Week program will conclude on Good Friday, April 10 with two processional parades.
The Via Crucis with the Blessed Christ of the Souls, which will leave at 7:30 pm from the temple of San Javier to travel several streets in the center of the town, and the procession of the Blessed Solitude of the Mar Menor that will be wrapped by a body of Nazarenes at 9:00 p.m. from the parish temple of Santiago Apóstol, to tour the streets of Santiago de la Ribera.
The procession will come out a second time after its rugged premiere last year due to the rain.
