The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo reported today that the municipality of San Javier has 8 confirmed cases of COVID19 and 50 people confined to their homes with medical follow-up for symptoms compatible with the disease.
After pointing out the difficulty of "the unprecedented health crisis we are experiencing", Luengo announced that both the Local Police, which has already imposed 100 sanctions for skipping isolation, and the Civil Guard, are going to increase controls, sanctioning anyone who leaves house without justification.
In his daily speech, José Miguel Luengo clarified issues raised by residents and asked citizens to wait for the state of alarm to end to claim the refund of municipal taxes, provided for in the announced economic measures.
"Once the state of alarm ends, requests for refund of fees such as those paid by merchants, hospitality by tables on public roads, Conservatory or sports center, among others, may be submitted from March 14 in the Town Hall Registry."
He also clarified that currently food stores can open on Sundays and holidays.
In this sense, he explained that the regional government had prevented it in a decree that was void after the publication of the decree of the state of alarm that does allow it.
Luengo added that the regional government has requested the closure on Sunday, although it is the government of the Nation that must authorize it.
The mayor of San Javier took the opportunity to invite residents to join the global initiative "Earth Hour", which invites you to turn off the light for one hour from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm in homes, businesses and monuments as a symbol of the struggle against climate change and announced that the City of San Javier would do so symbolically in the Plaza de España and Puente del Estacio among other points of the municipality,
