The Councilor for Culture David Martínez today encouraged the residents of San Javier to fill their windows and balconies with green hearts as "a symbol of hope in these hard times and as a sign of thanks to all those who are leaving their skin in these days" .
"San Javier beacon of hope" is the name given to this campaign promoted by the City Council with which it is intended to flood the town with green in the shape of a heart with words of encouragement and hope for all and thanks to the Local Police , health services, and many others that have to continue working during the pandemic.
David Martínez reported, during the daily report on social networks about the Coronavirus in the municipality, together with the mayor, José Miguel Luengo, that those responsible for the four existing nursery schools in the municipality, are contacting the families of their students to inform them about the details of the refund of fees paid and not enjoyed.
Martínez took the opportunity to report that the campaign for the manufacture of masks has exceeded expectations with more than 20,000 units made so that production is halted until its distribution is completed.
Martínez thanked volunteers and Civil Protection for their role in the success of this initiative, which will be resumed under new demand.
In relation to the masks, the mayor, José Miguel Luengo, emphasized the advisability of wearing masks in all cases as the only way to prevent infections in asymptomatic cases.
Luengo took the opportunity to thank in a special way the work being done by municipal workers of Public Services "who are not mentioned much when talking about essential services."
Luengo stressed "the vocation with which they work every day and the awareness of public service that they are demonstrating."
The mayor of San Javier confirmed the death by coronavirus of a 70-year-old man residing in Santiago de la Ribera who was admitted to the Los Arcos hospital, as the first deceased in the municipality.
José Miguel Luengo conveyed his condolences to the family and recalled the importance both to his relatives and to anyone who has been in contact with a positive who keeps the quarantine at home.
Luengo recalled that the offenses contained in the new Royal Decree against Public Health contemplate sanctions ranging from 3,000 to 600,000 euros, including arrest, and reiterated that both the Local Police and the Civil Guard and now also the Army will watch on the streets of the municipality for compliance with the isolation measures.
