The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and the Environment, Antonio Luengo, visited today the Los Pescadores neighborhood of the municipality of San Javier where the installation work for a new storm drain is being completed. It is an infrastructure that has 851 meters of pipe, whose investment amounts to 611,244 euros and its construction will be completed in the coming days. This collector will collect rainwater from the Los Pescadores neighborhood, until it connects to the existing network at the intersection of Cabo de Palos and Cabo Huertas streets.
The rainwater collection scuppers will be connected to said collector, which will be placed along Cabo de Salou, Marina Española and Cabo de Palos streets. Along with this action, the replacement of existing services has also been carried out, since it is an action carried out within the urban environment of San Javier. The counselor pointed out that "the installation of a new sustainable urban drainage system and a hydrodynamic decanter are also being studied to prevent dragging and floating solids from reaching the Mar Menor." Luengo indicated that it is one of the points included in the Program for the Improvement of Rainwater Networks, Sanitation and WWTP in the surroundings of the Mar Menor, "whose environmental assessment began a few days ago.
