The mayor, José Miguel Luengo and the president of the entity, Francisca Baraza today visited the works that will provide a solution to the periodic breakage of the old pipeline in part of its urban layoutThe mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, the councilor for Public Services, María Dolores Ruiz and the president of the Commonwealth of the Canals of Taibilla, Francisca Baraza visited this morning the works to replace 2.5 kilometers of fiber cement pipe by another of ductile cast iron that the joint entity carries out in the municipality with an investment of 1.7 million euros and whose completion is scheduled for the end of July. José Miguel Luengo thanked the Commonwealth that in response to an “old demand from the San Javier City Council with an infrastructure that, in addition to providing greater security to the supply service, will avoid the inconvenience caused by periodic breaks in the old pipeline in the area of Los Ríos neighborhood and the IES Mar Menor causing the loss of thousands of liters of water that flooded the area ”.The president of the Commonwealth of the Canals of Taibilla, Francisca Baraza explained that the works, which had a term of execution of six months, will finally be finished at the end of next July after suffering the pause of the health crisis and the episodes of rain previous torrential.

He also added that the new infrastructure "is a guarantee of security in the supply of water to the AGA, to the municipality itself and also to Los Alcázares." Baraza stressed that in addition to being an important work for the municipality, it also meets "the fundamental objective of the Commonwealth of replacing old fiber cement pipes." Before the visit to the works, the mayor of San Javier and the president of the Commonwealth, met with the technical teams of both institutions in the City Council who, among other things, studied possible temporary solutions in order to minimize the inconvenience of the works both to traffic and to the residents, especially in sections of the urban route of the conduction that goes from Los López to the chest of the Retiro, in San Javier.

One of those sections is the one that crosses the Avenida Española avenue, which currently forces the diversion of traffic in one of the directions and that could be reopened before the end of June, said Francisca Baraza.
