| The reinforcement of the RM-19 road surface has begun with a first phase that will end on October 30 until resurfacing is completed of the entire highway with an investment of 2 million euros | Today, Mayor José Miguel Luengo, together with the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, visited the resurfacing works of the Mar Menor highway (RM-19) through which 24,528 vehicles pass every day.
Díez de Revenga explained that the works that began in September and will last until October 30 have involved an investment of 500,000 euros, and its objective is to improve the safety and comfort of users.
The counselor José Ramón Díez de Revenga pointed out that it is a first phase that will be followed by others until 2023 with a total investment of close to 2 million euros until the reinforcement of the firm is completed throughout the highway. Mayor José Miguel Luengo highlighted the importance for San Javier and for the entire Mar Menor of the works to improve the road surface on RM-19 and recalled that it is one of the roads that supports a more intense traffic flow in the entire Murcia region.
Luengo thanked the regional government for its commitment to improving the roads in the area and in the municipality and announced that the project to modify the Pozo Aledo roundabout has already concluded, precisely at the confluence with the Mar Menor highway with in order to open an access to Cartagena. The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga reported that this action is in addition to other planned investments that have a budget of 4 million euros that are being tendered these days.
Díez de Revenga explained that they are works designed to defend the roads against flooding and guarantee mobility in episodes of intense rains.
One of the planned actions affects the road that connects Torre Pacheco with San Javier (RM F-29), in which the road surface and drainage will be reconstructed in the section that goes from kilometer 5 to 10.3, which supports a daily circulation of 2,213 vehicles.
The counselor indicated that the initial investment planned for this work "is the largest and amounts to 1,244,506 euros."
