| The seven walkers make up one of the three bubble groups formed in the Spanish National Team to train avoiding massive concentrations | The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo accompanied by the Councilor for Sports, Sergio Martínez today visited the municipal sports center of San Javier where they greeted the group of the National Athletics Team that these days trains in the municipal facilities. The mayor greeted and met the coach, the Murcian José Antonio Carrillo and the 7 athletes that make up one of the bubble groups into which the Spanish Athletics Team has been divided to train with the maximum health security measures due to the pandemic, and avoid mass concentrations. This is the group of marchers of the National Team who, together with their coach, José Antonio Carrillo, national responsible for the athletic walking sector, follow a cycle of concentrations in which altitude and sea level alternate.
The climate and the municipal sports facilities motivated them to choose San Javier, as one of the low-level venues, according to Carrillo, who thanked the reception and facilities received from the Department of Sports. The concentration, in which physical condition is worked, began on October 25 and lasts until November 14, a period in which they go to the sports center every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, to train in the gym in the morning and in the indoor pool in the afternoon.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays they move to mountain areas, in Murcia, and on Saturday they dedicate it to filming outside. The group that trains these days in San Javier gathers a good number of national and international medals and titles, such as those held by Miguel Ángel López, from Llano de Brujas, world champion in the 20-kilometer march.
The Extremadurans, Álvaro Martín, European champion and Iván Pajuelo, champion of Spain of 50km, are also part of this elite group, among which is Manuel Bermúdez, from Madrid, Lidia Sánchez from Madrid and Luis Manuel Corchetes from Torrevieja. With the Olympic Games as a goal, athletes train with the uncertainty caused by the absence at this point in the calendar of European and world qualifying events, acknowledges coach José Antonio Carillo, "so we are training without knowing when we play the classifications" .
